Why infrared here

A data center is the clearest case for infrared there is: the equipment runs continuously, the load is high and steady enough to make a scan meaningful at almost any time, and the cost of an unplanned electrical failure is measured in downtime rather than repair. We scan the distribution path end to end — utility entrance, switchgear, transformers, UPS and battery connections, PDUs, and the branch circuits feeding racks — energized and under normal load, because a de-energized bus tells you nothing.
